See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

just-a-zombie-killing-ninja asked:

Hey! As a member the LGBTQ group, I always had the headcanon that Miss Spink and Miss Forcible were a couple. Thoughts?

neil-gaiman answered:

As the author, so have I.

neil-gaiman

Actually, let's clarify this one, a little more. They are obviously a couple, and were always written to be a couple. What else would they be? (No, they aren't sisters, they have different names.)

"We never married, so we're undivorceable," they sang in the Stephin Merritt musical of Coraline...

(They were based on my long ago elocution teacher and her partner.)

Yet another. I appear to have answered this one many many times on Tumblr alone (and on Twitter, alav ha-shalom, and even on my blog, before that).

And what I find oddest about it, is if it had been an elderly man and an elderly woman as neighbours, who had been living in the flat downstairs for the past thirty years or more, you'd just assume they were a couple, and would not be writing to the author to find out if they were a brother and sister or perhaps roommates.

Alright, because we’re currently in the middle of ANOTHER mass influx of twitter users, I feel like we need to share some ground rules again:

1. This is a retirement village. The average age on this hellsite is over 30 now, and the energy levels match that. Long gone are the days of flame wars and discourse, so if you try to bring that back from Twitter you’re going to get hard candy thrown at you.

2. I repeat again for emphasis, your twitter mobs are not the vibe here. We like frogs and cottagecore, and breaking news via Destiel memes. Leave your pitchforks at the door.

3. The algorithm here is the enemy, nobody wants it and we do our best to ignore it. This isn’t twitter and its dopamine fueled cascade of breaking drama. Posts from 15 years ago still circulate regularly and still get added to. Feel free to reblog it for the 50th time.

4. The one rule here is “Yes And” - you see a post, you reblog and add to it. What if that post is about a fake 1950s Scorsese mobster movie? Doesn’t matter, jump on the Yes-And cowboy, we’re making it real.

5. NO CELEBRITIES, NO BRANDS, NO INFLUENCERS. We don’t stand for that kind of thing around these parts. Yes we have Neil Gaiman, Lynda Carter, Will Wheaton and The Chaser, but they are more just part of the furniture at this point (and I’m pretty sure the latter only log on when they’re drunk)

6. Try to have fun. I know we’ve all been scarred by the fires of Reddit, Facebook and Twitter but this site and its users does actually try to make the internet an enjoyable place to hang out, so please pull up a chair and join us.

They are not as high-profile as the WGA, but I would like to bring everyone's attention to the imminent strike action by thousands of hotel workers in Los Angeles. They are set to go on strike tomorrow, July 1st, 2023.

More than 15,000 hotel workers are seeking higher pay, better benefits, and working conditions. This includes an across-the-board $5 an hour raise, as well as affordable healthcare and better pensions. They also are seeking a ban on the use of E-Verify, which is used to deny employment to undocumented workers and workers involved with the criminal justice system. You can follow what is happening at their Twitter.

I have never felt so validated in never having given up on Tumblr.

an Elon musk tweet To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: - Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day - Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day - New unverified accounts to 300/dayALT

IT GETS WORSE!

"This is hilarious. It appears that Twitter is DDOSing itself.

The Twitter home feed's been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying.

In the first video, notice the error message that I'm being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right.

The second video shows why it's jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon's latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.

This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.

Unbelievable. It's amateur hour."

So he artificially limited the number of tweets you can see per day with a "free" account.

Once you hit your limit, it stops you from loading the page. But it also doesn't know WHY it isn't loading, so it keeps TRYING.

Twitter is literally hitting itself in the face ten times per second per user.

This is so completely amateurish it's unbelievable. It's like putting your car in neutral and slamming your foot on the gas until your engine redlines and then wondering why it's making a horrible noise and a terrible smell but not going anywhere.

This is so comically bad I don’t how to explain it to people who aren’t chronically online l😂😂😂

end-of-pizza

I mean people of a certain age use Twitter for everything from talking to friends to getting news

Its like, imagine if your tv just turned off after you watched it for two hours and couldn't be turned back on from 24 hours

vaspider

No it's absolutely terrible. There are people who freelance and are artists who do most of their finding of work on Twitter.

It really sucks for those people.

Apparently this article is outdated, and a later article states that the agreement with Google Cloud is resolved but

I don't even know who to believe now...
